Afriel, goddess of everything that once had never been, created the world. She created all creatures, giving them bodies, and voices. She worked on her world until she was satisfied, but it was large, a handful. How could she care for all of it when there was only one of her? From herself; She created three stallions, but of her own kind. Each with their own way of thinking and free-will. They would help govern life, and all was well, until their minds were corrupted by the ways of the earthly creatures. They created new life, they had the same looks as them, and they gave them the personality of elements that appealed to them most. They wanted to rule. To be a creator like Afriel.
The goddess' heart grew heavy, her judgment blinded by hurt and fury. She struck out at the three, giving them each an ugly, unremovable scar on their soul. (They are marked as traitors, but only another god/goddess/wraith can tell) In their newfound rage, they plot against their creator, using their equine species as an army.. and not only must they fight against Afriel and her creatures, but also each other. Brothers or not, they would kill anything and everything that dared to rob them of their one goal. Total domination.
Nearly every horse can speak one language besides the common tongue, and that is Latin.(Obviously, since there's no humans at the moment, it's not 'human latin', it's merely used as a sort of older language. Older than the common tongue) If you wish, they may speak more than these two languages, or a different language instead of Latin, but then they will be at a disadvantage.
