I cannot take this anymore I'm saying everything I said before All these words they make no sense I find bliss in ignorance
The smoldering gold pelt of the Terrenus stallion shone like the rays of the sun, his green eyes focoused on the trees ahead, enjoying the light that filtered through the branches, warming him. It was a good day. No hell to pay, no Aers. The thought of the Aers brought him to a halt. Disgusting creatures. They were vain, only caring about their looks and the equines of old. Prissy mares, weak stallions. Nothing good about them. Nothing. No wonder they were rarely gifted, and only by their fool of a god, Aequus. Hell, he couldn't even fight against Afriel without the other two. Granted Caedo didn't like Ferinus, he didn't disrespect him.
Air exited his nostrils loudly as he sighed, thick frame moving forward again in a walk, the jagged, black markings on his body moving like the rays of the sun. That and his ability to manifest fire confused others. Why would he be a Terrenus? To them, it seemed like he should be an Ignis. Some even thought of him as an Ignis, lost to the god Validus. Caedo snorted loudly, blackened tail lashing at the smoldering gold pelt, his feet carrying him forward in a slow, lilting canter.
The Ignis killed his family. They deserved to die. Terrenus against the Ignis. That was how it should be. Leave the gentle goddess out of the hatred and murder, and the Aers oblitered. The face of the world wiped clean, a new slate. "Bardus Ferinus. Si sit sic validus, permissum him adveho quod frendo mihi in orbis terrarum." A battle cry formed in him, but he kept his muzzle shut, enjoying the peace and serenity of the forest instead.
How long since he had last seen his sister? Around sixty years would be his best guess. He had been at least three years old when his family was murdered. Was it really murder though? It was a fair enough fight, and no 'rules' had been broken. Maybe they had died with honor.. then again, maybe not. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Was anything certain?
Snorting irritably, he slowed down, head bobbing up and down lazily, emerald eyes fixed on the river ahead. His eyes glittered with thirst as he plunged into the cold water, tossing his head and rearing, acting like the foal he had been nearly sixty years ago. "Validus, ignarus meus outbursts ut ego sum judico pro vos," he murmured, lowering his head, sucking in the water slowly, tail flicking gently at his flanks. What would his god think of him if he acted like a foal? Surely not an equine that would be fit to spend eternity with him.
The now slick, melted gold hued pillars carried his body across the river, long mane and tail drifting with the current. A funny thing that he loved the water so much, when he had the gift of fire. Caedo blew a small amount of air from his nostrils, fire slowly forming and dancing for the golden stallion. Smirking, he let the fire die, and stepped out of the water to shake himself off.
Caedo lifted his head, staring up at the blue sky, gold and red leaves swaying and falling as the wind blew through the trees. He blinked, emerald eyes bright with curiosity. If he had been a god, he would have never been able to even fathom this kind of beauty in the beginning. He would have never been able to create this. Not in all the ages the world had already existed. He sighed, nosing the ground for a moment or so, pulling, cutting, and chewing what green grass he could find beneath the leaves. He could find nothing that would nourish his body enough, head raising as the Terrenus snorted in mild annoyance. He was hungry, yet he could appreciate the vibrant beauty of the forest, and that alone was enough to sustain him.

...hold on a second...
The wind picked up the leaves and blew them against Moon Twilight, reminding her of a poem she had heard long ago. Autumn ventus verrimus cado coma... she whispered, memories of long ago stirring in her mind.
The wanderings of her mind grounded to a stop when she saw the golden stallion. Goodness he was handsome. She watched as he moved about, as he drank his fill at the stream. She started to approach him, unconsciously.
Despite her mind screaming at her not to approach the golden and forbidden stallion, she did, out of idle curiosity. Curiosity killed the cat...how fitting. She did not flee, as he did not look like an Ignis to her, but then again...you never know.
S-sir? She had tried to sound calm, but it came out more like a nervous stutter. Oops.
Swallowing her fear, she tried again, and this time it was more calm, though the fear was growing inside of her.
Ummm...where am I?
...who are you?

Caedo froze, head turning towards the sound of a mare's voice. He snorted, dark tail lashing harshly at his sides in annoyance. "S-sir?" His body relaxed, emerald eyes studying the figure of the equine, her pale coat sending a rumble of laughter deep inside him until it could be heard by the mare and anything else wandering the forest.
"Umm...where am I?" He snorted, holding back laughter. "You must be an Aer then, eh?" The golden stallion took several steps closer, stopping before he was too close and she would run off. "But, that doesn't make sense.. Usually your kind know such things. The places of stars in the sky." His words held a twinge of acidity, and genine dislike of Aequus' breed. Caedo's gaze moved to a bird that had been startled, and flew from the treetops into the bright sky above. "Why are you here mare?"

...you can smell my fear...
The sound of the stallion's laughter would've definately been enough to send Moon running, but she was stuck. Stuck to the ground in fear. Even the leaves and trees seem to shake in fear around her, and draw away from the stallion.
Yes sir, i am an Aer...but I do not understand. The positions of the stars, sir? I see no stars. Her daggers had finally become separated from the ground, and Moon had taken several steps back when he approached her, but still she did not run. She heard the hate in his voice, yet she stayed put. Too darn stubborn...that was what her father had called her once.
I...I'm lost, sir. I don't know where home is. The helplessness in her voice was genuine. Anyone would be able to tell. Her sky blue orbs could not be any wider. THey were wide with fear. Taking a few more steps back, she approached the cover of trees. Like that was going to help, and she knew it.
...can't you...?

Caedo snorted again as she backed away, and he stood, not approaching her any more. What was the use scaring her away? Well, for one, he would be able to enjoy the quiet of the forest again. "Yes sir, I am an Aer...but I do not understand. The positions of the stars, sir? I see no stars." He shook his head, tail flicking at his sides out of boredom. "Your kind are more scholars than fighters is what I meant. You're more suited for.. knowing the positions of the stars and landmarks. Things of that caliber." The stallion did the equivilent of a shrug, and looked up at the treetops again, admiring the soft light filtering through the trees and warming him.
"I...I'm lost, sir. I don't know where home is." He sighed, trying to keep his annoyance from bringing the anger from up inside him. "Lost, eh?" He huffed, shifting. "What is your home exactly?" If it was somewhere nearby, maybe, just maybe he would help her find it. There was no way he'd claim her as his own. Too strange. A Terrenus and an Aer. Granted, it was more likely than an Ignis and an Aer together. Caedo shook the thoughts of mates out of his mind, studying the cremello again.

...I do not wish to bring up...
It’s true sir, that I am more scholar than fighter, but my father was one of the best fighters of the herd. He had even won a fight against an Ignis…but he died… The last bit of the sentence had trailed off as unhappy memories resurfaced. It was during that fight that she had received the burn. The Ignis had played dirty and attacked the herd, trying to distract her sire. It had worked. Moon had got the ugly burn trying to flee. Unconsciously, she pawed the ground with her back left leg, the leg with the burn. It was the only patch on her which wasn’t a light shade in the colour spectrum. Rather, it was a rather fire-like shade of red and brown.
I - I’m not sure sir. All I know is that it’s in a valley. In Aer country…but I think it’s been overrun by Ignis now… After the death of her father, the Ignis had invaded, killing and driving out the Aer. Even now the memory, made her frame shake with emotion.
...the unhappy memories...

"It’s true sir, that I am more scholar than fighter, but my father was one of the best fighters of the herd. He had even won a fight against an Ignis…but he died…" Must everyone have a sad or dark history? Maybe it was so.. since, after all, Afriel's children had rebelled, creating their own 'children'. His mind traveled to Validus, who seemed more a father to him than Caedo's biological father had been. "Sorry to hear that," he mumbled, eyes filled with sympathy, and he looked away, gathering himself so he could look indifferent. "My family was killed in an attack by the Ignis as well. Only my sister and I survived out of the whole herd, and our warriors were so.. so mighty," he mused, smiling absentmindedly to himself.
"I - I’m not sure sir. All I know is that it’s in a valley. In Aer country…but I think it’s been overrun by Ignis now…" Gah, not more sadness, he thought, a grimace visible on his noble features. Vibrant green eyes moved back to the mare and her shaking form, and compassion filled him, his thick frame moving slightly closer to her. "Do not mourn. It is better to remember the happier memories. Or look to the future with hope." He winced, tail lashing at his left side once before fluttering about in a small breeze uselessly. What hope was there for this war? Who would win, and would the outcome be good for his kin, or would it be bleak and opressive? Sighing, he spoke again. "So you are wandering?" He asked, hoping to move away from depressiing matters.

...sad memories are best...
You have a sister? Then she must be beautiful. She purposefully avoided the other parts of the stallion’s anecdote. It was clear that that bit was a painful memory, though to see the smile gave her hope.
Remember the happier memories…yes…and look to the future with hope. She would remember those words to her dying day. Hope…that was what everyone needed. The single thing that did not escape Pandora’s Box. Her mother had told her that story. She remembered asking why hope did not escape. Her mother had said that it would only escape when it was needed. It was her favourite story. Now it was definitely her favourite.
When he moved closer, she did not move away. His manner was different now. That alone was enough to make her stay. At least for now.
Yes, I am wandering. Then she asked a question she had been wondering about. Are you a Terrenus?

"You have a sister? Then she must be beautiful." A low laugh rumbled in his chest, vibrant eyes glittering with amusement. He had had sixty years to forget all those memories, but he never really did.. although, they rarely stirred his emotions and made him sad. Usually, he only became angry. Besides, the only one he wasn't sorry to see go was his leader.
"Yes, I am wandering." Caedo took note of her not moving away from him, and this brought a thin stream of air to flow out his nose, and without thinking, a tiny flame grew as soon as the carbon dioxide coming from nostrils ceased. The stallion snuffed out the flame by pushing his nose into his side, pretending to be shooing away a pesky insect. Hopefully the Aer hadn't seen and she wouldn't flee. "Are you a Terrenus?" He nodded. "Yes, though I must not look my breed," he commented, eyeing the black designs covering his body. Emerald eyes were settled on the mare again. "I am Caedo. You may not tell me your name, I understand you may wish to keep some information private." He offered a friendly smile, actually calmed by her presence which confused him greatly. If he disliked Aers so much, how could he find peace before one?

...perhaps...
First thing that came to Moon’s mind was how beautiful his laugh sounded. Deep and beautiful. That would be how she would describe it.
She had seen the flame, certainly, but it did not seem…threatening. Unlike the Ignis flame, which was wild and dark, the flame from his nostrils was…soft. Tame and soft. Besides, Ignis had killed his family. Why would Ignis kill his family if his family was Ignis.
To others, that may be true, but you do not have their temperament. They are wild, untamed, violent. You are not like that.
She paused for a second, thinking about his name in her mind.
Caedo…it’s beautiful. I am Moon Twilight. But you can call me Moon. Or Twilight. Or anything really. I’ve had a lot of names. There’s also Stubborn Donkey, Honey, Buttercup, My Little Sunshine…mainly by my parents, of course.”
She gave a laugh, a trill like a mockingbird on a singing spree.
...just perhaps...

"To others, that may be true, but you do not have their temperament. They are wild, untamed, violent. You are not like that." At this, he laughed quietly, keen eyes not moving from her elegant body. It was interesting finding good company in an Aer female. Strange, but good.. "Ah, but you haven't seen all of me. I can have quite a temper at times," he spoke quietly, looking away for a moment.
"Caedo…it’s beautiful. I am Moon Twilight. But you can call me Moon. Or Twilight. Or anything really. I’ve had a lot of names. There’s also Stubborn Donkey, Honey, Buttercup, My Little Sunshine…mainly by my parents, of course.” Caedo smirked. "Beautiful? Well, I've never heard that before." He listened to her listing the other names, a grin twitching at the corners of his mouth when 'Stubborn Donkey' came up. "I'll call you moon. The moon is," he paused, looking up to the bright sky, the white puffs of cloud drifting by lazily, and there it was. The moon was already visible again, ushering forth the darkness of night. "-one of the most beautiful things." He smiled, her laughter sending electricity through his body.

...perhaps the laws do not apply...
[/i] Moon waited a few seconds before replying. His laughter just had that effect on her.
A temper? But everyone has one. Even I do…I think. Here Moon paused, thinking it over, before dumping it unceremoniously in the back of her mind in the mental rubbish bin.
You just don’t think about it all that much. It is beautiful.
When he looked up, she did as well, and saw the crescent moon, once again out early.
The moon is being naughty again! It’s not yet night, and she’s out already! But you’re right. The moon is beautiful, especially at night…
Her thoughts drifted back to her parents, when she used to gaze up at the moon with her mother and father. She had loved the moon, especially when it was full. There were a few times, when it was a new moon, she had bawled her eyes out because the moon wasn’t there. Her parents had laughed, and told her that if she didn’t stop crying the moon would never come back. That had shushed her up in a second.

If I had my own world I'd build you an empire From here to the far lands To spread love like violence
"A temper? But everyone has one. Even I do…I think." The whole of his form shook with laughter, vibrant green of his eyes glimmering. It had been long since Caedo had been able to laugh. Hatred and plotting had taken up the long years of his life, and it had driven him to be harsher with his words and actions. But now, it seemed, he could not use them as security blankets. Moon brought peace and tranquility to his soul instead. So strange! "I'm sure it's hidden in you somewhere. Though I'm not likely to see it."
"You just don’t think about it all that much. It is beautiful." Snorting in response, Caedo's tail fluttered about in a stray gust of wind from the north, brining the cold with it. His golden pelt twiched as though it were amused by its futile attempts to chill the stallion's body.
"The moon is being naughty again! It’s not yet night, and she’s out already! But you’re right. The moon is beautiful, especially at night…" Again, laughter rumbled deep in Caedo's body, a look of amusement again directed towards Moon. "Indeed she is!" His grin died down to the small, smoldering remnants of a smile. "And yes," he spoke again, lively eyes fixed on her. "you are beautiful. Very much so." Caedo hoped she realized how rare and how much of a compliment it was to have such a thing said to you by a Terrenus. Commenting on another's or you own beauty was not something they did. His smile grew slightly, green orbs moving back up to the sky.

...I have no care...
I'm sure it's hidden in you somewhere. Though I'm not likely to see it.
Mother said that if I didn’t stop with my temper tantrums the moon wouldn’t come out anymore. So that’s why I try not to have tantrums. Because then the moon wouldn’t come out, and I like the moon. Reminds me of mother.
She turned again to face the moon, this time seeing her mother's face in the Sea of Serenity. Her mother was called Moon Serenity.
And yes, you are beautiful. Very much so.
Startled out of her moon gazing (again) she faced Caedo in full, staring. She had heard from her parents how rare it was for one breed of equine to compliment another (not that she cared; she would compliment another breed as if they were the same). She stared in silence for one full second.
Thank you.
Genuineness lined her voice, as well as gratitude. She knew how hard it was for him to say those words.
Can I ask you…do you hate the Aer and Ignis alike? Or is it just Ignis?
She needed to know. If she was making him feel uncomfortable, she would leave, despite the fact that she would feel a deep regret if she did.

"Mother said that if I didn’t stop with my temper tantrums the moon wouldn’t come out anymore. So that’s why I try not to have tantrums. Because then the moon wouldn’t come out, and I like the moon. Reminds me of mother." A faint grin stretched along the length of his mouth, gaze tearing away from Moon to the actual moon in the sky. "That sounds much different from something my mother would have said to me." The faint burning of hatred in his heart was made apparent as he grunted, grin sliding off his lips. His mother would still be alive if it were not for the Ignis and the weakness of the herd of Aer that neighbored his old one.
"Thank you." Caedo shook his anger away, throwing it to the side as something of lesser importance than the mare near him. Her presence comforted him, and yet a smile did not come to his lips. It would take more than her words to destroy the vengeful whisperings in his heart. "You are most welcome," he mumbled, gaze still at the celestial body in the sky.
"Can I ask you…do you hate the Aer and Ignis alike? Or is it just Ignis?" The brute turned his head, eyes not quite on Moon yet, his mind scrambling for an answer. Did he truly hate the Aer? The Ignis? "I only hate those who wrong me," he spoke calmly, deciding it was the best answer he could give for now. "I do not particularly like most of the Aer.. but I believe I have just been given incorrect information about the way they are. And not all the Ignis are bad either."
